DONNE ALL'OPERA: CROCE E DELIZIA

“Donne all’Opera: Croce e Delizia, ovvero L’universo femminile nell’Opera Italiana”

is an operatic stage action that explores and celebrates the complex female figures in the Italian repertoire, from Baroque to Verismo. Under the artistic direction of director Stefano Vizioli, the show goes beyond the simple anthology of arias. A specially written narrative connects famous pieces and lesser-known pages to create a coherent journey through the emotional labyrinths of lyrical heroines, addressing universal themes such as seduction, abandonment, rivalry and forgiveness.

While the young singers and musicians of the Conservatory, led by their teachers, bring the scores to life, the students of the Academy create original sets, costumes and video projections. A distinctive visual element is the projection of works by great Italian women painters, such as Artemisia Gentileschi and Rosalba Carriera, who establish a silent dialogue with the protagonists on stage, amplifying their emotional experience.

The vocal and instrumental ensemble is composed entirely of students, including eight singers and seven instrumentalists conducted by a young student in the Conducting class. The project is intrinsically devoted to internationalisation and cultural dialogue. For its stops abroad, in fact, the show opens up to new contaminations, such as the proposal of a comparison between Italian and French opera, or the inclusion of heroines of traditional Chinese opera, to create a unique and shared intercultural experience
